Dr. Bocachica’s educational journey began at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science, where he was a National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, graduating as a Pfeiffer Scholar with degrees in biology, pre-medicine, and romance languages.
He continued his studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he completed medical school as a Robert Woods Johnson Scholar, earning his M.D. in just three years—one of the youngest physicians in the country at the time. After an internship in Internal Medicine in New York, he served in the United States Public Health Service, practicing in rural Alaska and Anchorage.
Following his dermatology residency at The United States Public Health Service Hospital in New York and the University of California-Irvine, Dr. Bocachica became the Medical Director of the Special Diseases Clinic in Southern California, overseeing public health-related disease management. His passion for Alaska brought him back to private practice, where he has been enriching lives since 1985.
